French & Interceptor Drain Installation in Iowa

French drains and interceptor drains are the surgical tools of drainage — a targeted trench of aggregate and perforated pipe that catches water along a specific path and carries it away before it ever reaches the place you're protecting.

Robinson Service Inc · since 1966

An interceptor drain runs along the contour of a slope to catch subsurface water moving downhill, stopping it before it saturates the ground below. A French drain collects water across a wider area — around a foundation, along a driveway, or at the toe of a hillside — and routes it to a safe outlet.

These systems are smaller in scale than a full farm tile pattern, but the grade work matters just as much. We wrap perforated pipe in clean aggregate and filter fabric, set the grade so water keeps moving, and daylight the outlet where it won't cause a new problem.

If you've got a wet basement, a soggy yard, a seeping hillside, or a field edge that never dries, a well-placed French drain or interceptor drain is often the cleanest fix — and we'll tell you straight if a bigger system is what you actually need. We install French and interceptor drains for homeowners, farms, and commercial properties across Eastern Iowa, from Iowa City to Dubuque.
