Wetland Drainage Solutions in Iowa

Some ground just won't dry — heavy clay, low-lying potholes, and former wetland areas that stay saturated long after the rest of the field is workable. We design drainage solutions specifically for the toughest, wettest ground.

Robinson Service Inc · since 1966

Wet ground needs a different approach than a standard pattern system. Tight clay soils drain slowly, so lateral spacing has to be tighter and outlets have to be reliable. Low spots may need surface intakes in addition to subsurface tile. We design for the actual soil, not for the easy ground next door.

We've worked wet, heavy ground across Eastern Iowa for decades, and we know which approaches hold up and which ones plug up after the first season. We'll tell you what's feasible, what isn't, and where a surface inlet or a pumped outlet is the only realistic answer.

If you've got ground that's costing you yield because it never dries, we'll design a drainage solution built for that specific soil and slope — and install it to last. We tackle wetland drainage solutions on heavy Delaware County clays and wet ground throughout Eastern Iowa.

How we handle it

  1. 1

Assess soil type, hydrology, and drainage feasibility

  2. 2

Design tighter lateral spacing and reliable outlets

  3. 3

Add surface intakes or pumped outlets where needed

  4. 4

Install on grade and verify drawdown over the season
